Back in 1996/1997, Manchester United were hammered by promising Newcastle United squad. Led by Kevin Keegan, the Toon Army won 5-0 at their homes, blowing up an expectation that they could win the Premier League. 

The Fact: At the end of the season, United won their 11th titles, seven points ahead of Newcastle United. Keegan resigned as a manager and Kenny Dalglish replaced him for the rest of the season.

Also, in 1999/2000, the cosmopolitan team of Chelsea FC played a beautiful football to humiliate the reigning champion, Manchester United. They won by five goals to zero, worsened by weak performance by United’s goalkeeper, Massimo Taibi. Again, Chelsea were expected to win the league after this victory.

The Fact: Chelsea were too inconsistent to gain their glory, finished 5th at the Premier League table. Again, at the end of the season, United won the league for the 13th times. 

So, for all Manchester City fans and Manchester United haters, why don’t you just shut up and watch the rest of the season?
